SKATEBOARDING ICON ERIC KOSTON JOINS SWAG GOLF AS CREATIVE DIRECTOR FOR ACTION SPORTS

Swag and Koston’s First Skateboard-Focused Products Sold Out in 60 Seconds

CHICAGO, Ill. – Swag Golf, the cult-favorite golf accessory, equipment and apparel company, is pleased to announce skateboarding legend, Eric Koston, as the company’s new Creative Director for Action Sports.  As part of the package, Swag and Koston are creating a limited-edition line of skateboard and golf accessories that combine the culture of both sports through Koston’s one-of-a-kind perspective, and Swag’s signature style. The first collaboration - a line of custom skateboard decks - dropped on Monday, December 13th and sold out in 60 seconds. For those that were unable to snag a deck, this product drop is the first expression in a long-term partnership between Swag and Koston.

“Eric Koston’s impact on the skateboard community - and culture as a whole - is undeniable. Throughout his career, Eric showcased his authentic style as he’s become one of the most accomplished skateboarders in history,” said Nick Venson, founder and chief executive officer, Swag Golf. “We couldn’t be more excited to collaborate with Eric and create one-of-a-kind accessories to help skaters, golfers, and everyone in between, bring the Swag to their sport’s culture.”

The initial drop of Eric Koston-inspired Swag items featured four different skateboard decks. Manufactured by Koston’s preferred skateboard manufacturing company, these decks utilize only the best quality raw materials; hard rock sugar maple veneer (sustainably sourced by one of the finest mills in Wisconsin), glue specifically formulated for the skate decks and a coating system carefully crafted through many years of experience. The initial designs included: Concentric Skulls, Embrace The Flipper, King of Swag and Stacked Bills

Koston began skating at age 11 and has been a pillar of the skateboarding community ever since. He is a 12x X-Games participant, a regular fixture in Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater and EA’s SKATE video games, and received Thrasher’s “Skater of the Year” award in 1996 and Transworld’s “Skater of the Year” award in 2001. One of the most decorated skateboarders in history, Koston also transcended the boundaries of a traditional skater through his various entrepreneurial endeavors.

“To be successful in the skateboarding community — and life in general — you have to tap into the unique characteristics that define you and proudly display them,” said Koston. “I’m excited for the creative challenge of collaborating with Swag to express myself in this new medium. Golf is one of my favorite sports outside of skating, and this upcoming line is only the beginning of our journey together.  I’m thrilled to be part of the team and look forward to what this partnership has in store for the future.”

Eric Koston’s limited-edition drop was part of the company’s Swagmas event. Running December 6th – 17th, fans from all-over the world are invited to check-in daily for new drops that include products across the company’s portfolio such as Swag signature items and licensed designs.
